Kate Winslet Focuses on the Drama of Mildred Pierce
Kate Winslet wore a brown costume on the NYC set of Mildred Pierce yesterday, while this morning she left her apartment headed to work in a blue period getup. She returned home to the Big Apple after her bikini-filled Mexican vacation to focus on her new project amid all the attention coming her way in the wake of her split from Sam Mendes. Kate and Sam have been doing their best to keep things normal for their kids Mia and Joe, and her getting back to work might help in establishing a new routine.

Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes once again put up a united front bringing their kids Joe and Mia to school in NYC this morning. The foursome’s daily routine has been documented more than ever recently since Sam and Kate announced their split last month. Immediately after the news hit, Kate was far away from their Manhattan home — instead lounging in bikinis off the coast of Mexico — but she couldn’t avoid the attention for long. Still, there’s something to be said for Kate and Sam keeping it civil, especially when there are already frequent rumors about other women as he casts the latest Bond girl and apparently has his eye on ex Rachel Weisz.

Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes Keep Things Civil in NYC
Kate Winslet had her hands full as she and her son, Joe, headed off to see a movie in NYC today. Her estranged husband, Sam, was spotted outside their apartment as well, making it seem as though he and Kate are doing their best to keep things normal for Joe and Kate’s oldest child, Mia. Kate’s been back in the Big Apple for just over a week following her bikini-filled vacation in Mexico, where she kept a low profile as news about her split from Sam hit headlines. Kate will soon get back to work on Mildred Pierce, but for now she and Sam are enjoying their kids’ Spring break as much as they can during a time of big change.

Kate Winslet reportedly moving back to the UK
Following the shock news of her split from husband Sam Mendes, reports are circulating that Kate Winslet may move back to the UK.
“The people she’s close to in New York are mums in schools but she thinks that will all change and her real friends – Emma Thompson, her sister Anna and her parents – are all over here,” a source tells the Daily Mail.
“Kate feels she needs a support system, but she is torn because doesn’t want to disrupt her kids and is able to be very low key in New York.” The Oscar-winner has lived in the Big Apple with her two children and husband Sam for seven years.
Meanwhile, as reports suggest Kate had become “frustrated” about the relationship between her husband and actress Rebecca Hall, a source close to Sam insists there was nothing but friendship between them.
“Sam and Rebecca are good friends, of course they are, they have spent the better part of a year working together on the Bridge Project. But to insinuate that there is anything further in the friendship is taking it too far.”
Body of lies?
Now that Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes have announced their separation and impending divorce, the tabloids are in a frenzy to romantically link them to fellow celebrities that both have worked with on more than one occasion. Mendes is reportedly being comforted (euphemism for having sex with) by actress Rebecca Hall and Winslet consoled by former co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, obviously…
Apparently Winslet had become ‘increasingly frustrated’ with Mendes’s ‘closeness’ to Rebecca Hall. The director had recently cast the ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’ actress in two of his theatre projects (i.e definitely doing it) in London and New York.
A source apparently close to Winslet said:
“When Kate found out that Sam had grown close to Rebecca she was upset. Rebecca is totally Sam’s type - a thespian mix of brains and beauty.”
Someone shoot that source, please.
Meanwhile, Winslet is apparently being comforted by Leonardo DiCaprio (because they starred as lovers in two films) despite the fact that she is now in Mexico being comforted by Emma Thompson (literally this time, they’re not lezzing up – as far as we’re aware, anyway).
Another source, less pompous than the first one, said:
“Since Kate’s marriage started to go south, around the time they were filming Revolutionary Road, they’ve [DiCaprio and Winslet] got closer again. Kate has always really adored Leo and feels like she can tell him anything.
“They were thrust into stardom together and were the only people who knew what the other was going through. He’s been a rock for her.”
Before finally adding:
“Leo and Kate have been like brother and sister.”
Which is probably just one of the reasons that they haven’t been shagging…
Kate Winslet supported by Leonardo
Kate Winslet has reportedly turned to her ‘Revolutionary Road’ co-star Leonardo DiCaprio for support following the breakdown of her marriage to director Sam Mendes.
Kate Winslet is being supported through her marriage break-up by Leonardo DiCaprio.
The actress turned to her ‘Titanic’ co-star when problems started to surface in her relationship with director Sam Mendes as the trio worked together on 2008 movie ‘Revolutionary Road’ and she is said to be relying on his support to get through this difficult time.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Leonardo and Kate have been like brother and sister since they starred in ‘Titanic’ together.
“And since Kate’s marriage problems started, around the time they were filming ‘Revolutionary Road’, they have got closer again. Kate feels like she can tell Leonardo anything.
“They were thrust into stardom together and were the only people who knew what the other was going through. He’s been a rock for her.”
While Kate – who is currently holidaying in Mexico with her two children, six-year-old son Joe and Mia, her nine-year-old daughter from her marriage to Jim Threapleton – has a close friendship with Leonardo, Sam’s bond with actress Rebecca Hall, 27, was reportedly the cause of many of their rows.
The director first met Rebecca in 2006 on the set of movie ‘Starter For 10′ – who he acted as executive producer on – and worked on two theatre productions, ‘A Winter’s Tale’ and ‘The Cherry Orchard’, in New York and London as part of his Bridge Project theatre company last summer.
A source said: “Sam is a huge admirer of Rebecca’s work. He really worked well with her. There’s no suggestion of anything untoward but undoubtedly the friendship didn’t help mend their struggling relationship.”
It has also been claimed the end of their six-year marriage came about after a row over conflicting work schedules, with 44-year-old Sam lined up to direct the new James Bond film in London and Kate, 34, planning to star in a US TV comedy show.
The source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Sam raised several questions over whether she should be doing it, insisting she was above a TV script and it wouldn’t progress her career. Not surprisingly, Kate went ballistic.”
Kate and Sam – who married in May 2003 – announced their split on Monday (15.03.10) but friends claim they have been living apart for several months.
